well done, target…another designer collection i can get excited about. in other related news, target is getting rid of their go international collection. i’m really loving the ads so far. jason wu’s inspiration for the collection is this black cat named “milu”…isn’t she so mischievous?

so after much anticipation, the missoni for target collection is finally here. i’ve been eagerly looking forward to and posting about this for some time now and have been at the ready to pounce for today’s launch. the target style social media team previously said it would go live online to shop at midnight but at the last minute changed it to searchable by 4 am est and shoppable by 8 am est (whatever that means). i had planned to hit up the brick & mortar store when it opened but when i found out that online would have the most selection and what was being carried at the stories would vary, i quickly changed my strategy. as of 11 pm pst 9/12 i had been checking in repeatedly and it was discovered you could buy about 11 items though the target mobile site. nothing i had wanted and with some mob mentality i waited it out until 2 am after a reassuring tweet it would take hours i thought it’d be safe to sleep–or nap rather. i woke up at 4:30 am only to find that the entire collection was not only already up, but some of my most coveted items, like the loop toss pillow, were already sold out. i browsed like mad and added anything that remotely interested me into my cart. unfortunately, it was now about 5 am, or 8 am est, when everyone was expecting the site to go live and the servers crashed. with 23 items in my cart and not having seen everything, i was locked out. my friend had been smart and checked out a few times but she had also started earlier. in my 2 measly hours of sleep, i had missed out.
i waited and waited, watching the facebook and twitter pages like a hawk and constantly refreshed my cart waiting for the site to come back up. over 3 hours later and still nothing. finally when the site came back, i made 2 massive orders but it was still a waste of time. i could’ve slept a full night, gone to work and bought everything i did today without any of the sacrifice i had done. the items that i wanted that were sold out, had sold out when i had napped, and weren’t back in stock. and i don’t think anything in my cart had sold out. i’m sure i’ll be returning a lot later (well, i better be…i spent over $1,000), but i’m happy i got most of the things i had blogged about before, like the martini glasses and tumblers, scarves, and framed art prints. there was way more online than what was shown in their supposedly complete look book and now as i blog, i realize i didn’t check out the stationery items at all. i didn’t see a category for it.
anyways, onto the gains and losses. not shown in the look book, but my very favorite purchase so far (i hope saying that doesn’t jinx me and get it canceled):
i bought this quickly as i didn’t want the site to crash again and thought it was pretty cute. after i finished checking out, i was able to look at the detail photo and i’m blown away but how nice it looks. i really hope it comes with everything pictured and is as nice as it looks in the photo.

as i expected, it’s mostly the house wares and accessories that i like…and the stationery! i think i’ll pick up at least one scarf, the shaker/martini glass/tumbler set, the pillows, the frame, the set of art prints, and some stationery. what’s everyone getting?

not too different from what we’ve seen already. kinda liking the guy’s cardigan and am still looking forward to the home collection.
i’m pretty excited that my firm’s working on hotel missoni belek, antalya in turkey. we have some amazing designs and projects, but unfortunately i can’t afford to stay at any of these luxe hotels.

hotel missoni belek, antalya isn’t slated to open until 2014. other locations in the works are oman (2013) and brazil (2014).
i normally find missoni clothing too loud and 70’s-looking but i’m loving how it looks as an interiors palette…especially the vibrant colors and patterns. now i’m really excited for the target collaboration.
