just. wow.

kelly wearstler’s accomplished quite a bit–playboy “playmate of the month”  turned big time interior designer and now, fashion designer as of spring 2011.  of course, being married to brad korzen of viceroy hotel group doesn’t hurt either.  my company has worked with her studio on a few viceroy properties and i’m especially a fan of the the 7th floor of department store bergdorf goodman.  i forgot to visit the last time i was in nyc, but i will make sure to go this february when i’m there.

she’s really translated her hallmark whimsical style into fashion apparel successfully.  but her marketing team especially is doing a fantastic job.  the  upcoming look book shot by jamie beck of from me to you fame featuring kelly framel of the glamourai notoriety in malibu is just stunning.

i apologize for the many photos, but there are a lot.  and there are so many good ones.  and what would a nod to jamie beck be without a cinemagraph?

and speaking of jamie, how cute is this post on her other half?

the missoni for target nightmare

so after much anticipation, the missoni for target collection is finally here.  i’ve been eagerly looking forward to and posting about this for some time now and have been at the ready to pounce for today’s launch.  the target style social media team previously said it would go live online to shop at midnight but at the last minute changed it to searchable by 4 am est and shoppable by 8 am est (whatever that means).  i had planned to hit up the brick & mortar store when it opened but when i found out that online would have the most selection and what was being carried at the stories would vary, i quickly changed my strategy.  as of 11 pm pst 9/12 i had been checking in repeatedly and it was discovered you could buy about 11 items though the target mobile site.  nothing i had wanted and with some mob mentality i waited it out until 2 am after a reassuring tweet it would take hours i thought it’d be safe to sleep–or nap rather.  i woke up at 4:30 am only to find that the entire collection was not only already up, but some of my most coveted items, like the loop toss pillow, were already sold out.  i browsed like mad and added anything that remotely interested me into my cart.  unfortunately, it was now about 5 am, or 8 am est, when everyone was expecting the site to go live and the servers crashed.  with 23 items in my cart and not having seen everything, i was locked out.  my friend had been smart and checked out a few times but she had also started earlier.  in my 2 measly hours of sleep, i had missed out.

i waited and waited, watching the facebook and twitter pages like a hawk and constantly refreshed my cart waiting for the site to come back up.  over 3 hours later and still nothing.  finally when the site came back, i made 2 massive orders but it was still a waste of time.  i could’ve slept a full night, gone to work and bought everything i did today without any of the sacrifice i had done.  the items that i wanted that were sold out, had sold out when i had napped, and weren’t back in stock.  and i don’t think anything in my cart had sold out.  i’m sure i’ll be returning a lot later (well, i better be…i spent over $1,000), but i’m happy i got most of the things i had blogged about before, like the martini glasses and tumblers, scarves, and framed art prints.  there was way more online than what was shown in their supposedly complete look book and now as i blog, i realize i didn’t check out the stationery items at all.  i didn’t see a category for it.

anyways, onto the gains and losses.  not shown in the look book, but my very favorite purchase so far (i hope saying that doesn’t jinx me and get it canceled):

isn't it gorgeous?! ::swoon::

i bought this quickly as i didn’t want the site to crash again and thought it was pretty cute.  after i finished checking out, i was able to look at the detail photo and i’m blown away but how nice it looks.  i really hope it comes with everything pictured and is as nice as it looks in the photo.

this is the best photo i could find since target crashed again.  i’ll update it later. ETA: UPDATED!

and here are the shaker and pillows i wanted but failed to get:

martini shaker.

toss pillow in colore loop. i want you so bad!

multi pillow set in red medallion. online only.

ok, seeing as how i only got 2 hrs of sleep and am pretty pathetic, i’m going to bed now.

hotel missoni

i’m pretty excited that my firm’s working on hotel missoni belek, antalya in turkey.  we have some amazing designs and projects, but unfortunately i can’t afford to stay at any of these luxe hotels.

to give you an idea of what it might look like, here are photos from the other hotel missoni properties.

hotel missoni kuwait

hotel missoni belek, antalya isn’t slated to open until 2014.  other locations in the works are oman (2013) and brazil (2014).

i normally find missoni clothing too loud and 70’s-looking but i’m loving how it looks as an interiors palette…especially the vibrant colors and patterns.  now i’m really excited for the target collaboration.

and here’s a sneak peak to that!

over 400 products, priced all the way from $2.99 to $599.99…thankfully, most are supposed to be under $40.  i’ll be counting the days until september 13th.

wish i was there

primary wave holds a pre-grammy party every year. this time around it was the bazaar at the sls in beverly hills, which i adore. it was sponsored by absolut vodka and just looks like a ton of fun…wish i was one of the lucky attendees!

given the venue, of course they had some of the famous jose andres cotton candy foie gras lollipops. i’m not a big fan of foie gras…it has that liver taste that i can’t get over. but because of the sugary cotton candy, it blends together nicely…even for people with unrefined palates like me. they also had dark chocolate pop rocks–i’ve never tried these but they sound yummy.

i went to jose andres’ the bazaar pretty recently for the first time and was really blown away. i love the design of the entire space (done by the talented philippe starck)…it’s very eclectic but done in such a manner that it doesn’t feel disjointed. i wasn’t expecting the food to be very good but i really loved the fun gastromolecular cuisine. everything’s tiny, even by tapas standards, but the dining experience is so fun…i can’t wait to come back. i didn’t get a chance to check out the rest of the hotel but i’ll make sure to do that next time. my personal highlights of the evening were the cotton candy foie gras, magic mojito (best cocktail i’ve had in my life!), and the philly cheese steak with air bread and kobe beef.
