i die!

i was eating with friends and staring blankly at the tv screen as linsanity reached the lakers.  as the game breaked for a commercial, i saw the back of his head and the words “adrien brody!” came sputtering out of my mouth along with pizza bits.

for me, what could be better than a stylish adrien brody starring in a commercial?  well, if he used the razor to shave off all his facial hair for one thing.  but no, that’s not what i meant–andre 3000!  a commercial featuring 3 stylish men and 2 of them are my heartthrobs??  #idie!!!  gael’s not bad either, haha.

um, one of my favorite commercials now?  OH YES.

ok, i haven’t watched these videos of them talking about style yet but you can bet your ass that i will!

#endswooning

and now i love prada even more

because they had my #1 heartthrob (after boyfriend, of course) walk their fall/winter 2012 menswear show!  and also with other cutie, garrett hedlund!  other notable celebrities that walked include gary oldman (woo hoo!), willem dafoe, emile hirsch, jamie bell, and timothy roth.  i don’t think brody looks that great in the show…reminds me of his manolete character or a beatle, but i support him, nonetheless.  better he walk in a major fashion show than make another crappy movie i force boyfriend to watch with me, amiright?

i think garrett hedlund stole the show for me though.  not exactly professional but he’s so cute; he looks like he’s having so much fun.

if you care about the clothes (because i only care about the eye candy), check out the new york timescoverage.  and for more photos of the actors, check out the pursuitist.

one of my favorite bands ever

and one of the most fun shows i’ve ever been too…miss them.

adult books

business of fashion came out with their list of this season’s top 10 fashion films.  it’s no surprise that lanvin’s made #1.  but i really enjoyed this one from olympia le-tan as directed by spike jonze called “mourir aupres de toi”:

i think i need me one of these book cover clutches.  it reminds me of jillian tamaki’s covers for penguin that i posted about before.

that’s some naughty thread!

to watch the others, see bof’s original post.

thomas bangalter does fashion

the cooler half of daft punk, thomas bangalter, directed a short film for luxury fashion brand co starring his wife elodie bouchez for their spring/summer 2012 collection.

daft punk is no stranger to directing as they released a full length film called electroma before.  they should stick to making music…not that this one was bad.

evolution of style + dance

how cute is this westfield stratford ad?  it combines a bunch of things i like: fashion, dance, couples (i guess?), and videography.

it chronicles 100 years of east london style from the 1910’s until present times.

when i saw this, it totally reminded me of the evolution of dance video (and i wasn’t alone):

and while we’re on the subject of dance…how amazing is david elsewhere?  an oldie but goodie, i can’t help but smile when i watch this:

he’s one of the silhouettes in my favorite ipod ad (break dancing + daft punk? yes, please!):

it’s a shame he never got to perform with michael jackson; they were collaborating for “this is it”…

dancing is one of the (many) things i really wish i was good at.  funny how this turned from a fashion post to dance.

have a great labor day weekend!  i’ll be spending it churning out 8 essays.

historical disney princess series

illustrator claire hummel recreated some of the disney princesses in historically accurate period costume.  some look pretty different from disney’s versions, while others look pretty similar.

16th century german snow white

17th century powhatan pocahontas

mid-1860's cindarella

pre-islamic middle eastern jasmine

1485 princess aurora doesn't look like disney's sleeping beauty, but she looks like her mom

ariel in an 1890's evening gown with a bouquet of...seaweed...haha

boy, 1770's french court fashion belle sure looks haughty

ok, i gotta ask…where are tiana (the princess and the frog), rapunzel, and mulan?  #needguyaokistat

pixar’s up house a reality

i previously blogged about the national geographic channel’s “how hard can it be” tv show replicating a house flying with balloons from disney-pixar’s up (twice), but now there is an actual house replicating the one carl and ellie lived in–an exact copy down to just about every detail.

bangerter homes, the developer, was granted permission to replicate the house by disney, which is an incredible accomplishment in itself.  i work with disney and they have a lot of strict policies/rules.  the house is located in herriman, utah and just recently finished the exterior.  the interior is still a work in-progress but they’re following the blueprint from the film and being mindful of every detail, no matter how insignificant it may seem–including the weather vane and garden hose.

it’s open for tours starting july 29th until august 14th with an opening asking price of $400,000.  pretty affordable, but it does seem rather small and as much as i love up, pixar, and collectibles…you won’t find me submitting a bid.

it is awfully cute though…

harry-potter-inspired

with harry potter & the deathly hallows part 2 opening in just a week and some change (squeal!), college fashion put together a beauty post inspired by the 4 different hogwarts houses.

gryffindor

ravenclaw

slytherin

hufflepuff

and a couple from the characters:

hermione granger

luna lovegood

bellatrix lestrange

for explanations of how to effectively capture “the look”, check out their post.  they’ve also done some harry potter-inspired fashion posts before:

GRYFFINDOR

RAVENCLAW

SLYTHERIN

HUFFLEPUFF

this will help me think of what to wear when i go to that harry potter tribute art exhibition (yes, i’m going!  i don’t care!).  i won’t be wearing a costume although it will probably be relatively easy for me to pass as cho chang.  especially since i like blue, ravenclaw, and those shoes in the formal look are a knock-off of the christian louboutin canon 140’s i’ve been lusting after.

i think i would’ve liked to be in ravenclaw out of all the houses even though our heroes are all in gryffindor.  my favorite characters were sirius black (gryffindor) and severus snape (slytherin).  i can’t wait until i’m done with all this bschool nonsense so i can get down to what really matters–reading harry potter again.
