my picks from jason wu for target

well done, target…another designer collection i can get excited about.  in other related news, target is getting rid of their go international collection. i’m really loving the ads so far.  jason wu’s inspiration for the collection is this black cat named “milu”…isn’t she so mischievous?

ok, i could’ve sworn i saw a better scan of this yesterday but this is all i can find now…sorry.

here are the pieces i like so far:

navy poplin dress, $39.99

white sheer blouse with ribbon, $34.99; black circle skirt, $29.99

cream flared dress with belt, $59.99

black lace clutch, $29.99

cream front-flap straw bag, $39.99

milu black cat scarf, $19.99

navy wheel scarf, $19.99

to see the rest of the first look of the collection, with pricing, check out new york magazine’s the cut.  and keep your eyes peeled for when the collection hits stores february 5th.

jason wu shot to fame at the young age of 29 when first lady michelle obama wore one of his gowns for her husband’s inauguration ball.

just. wow.

kelly wearstler’s accomplished quite a bit–playboy “playmate of the month”  turned big time interior designer and now, fashion designer as of spring 2011.  of course, being married to brad korzen of viceroy hotel group doesn’t hurt either.  my company has worked with her studio on a few viceroy properties and i’m especially a fan of the the 7th floor of department store bergdorf goodman.  i forgot to visit the last time i was in nyc, but i will make sure to go this february when i’m there.

she’s really translated her hallmark whimsical style into fashion apparel successfully.  but her marketing team especially is doing a fantastic job.  the  upcoming look book shot by jamie beck of from me to you fame featuring kelly framel of the glamourai notoriety in malibu is just stunning.

i apologize for the many photos, but there are a lot.  and there are so many good ones.  and what would a nod to jamie beck be without a cinemagraph?

and speaking of jamie, how cute is this post on her other half?

color blocking done right

i was resistant to the color blocking trend at first, but i recently embraced it whole-heartedly after i saw a dress i really liked at max mara a couple weeks ago.

i tend to be very picky about looks i want to achieve and color blocking is no different for me.  i’ve been trying to cash in on this and replicate the vibrancy of the dress, which paired orange and blue but haven’t been completely happy with anything i’ve seen or even purchased.  there are certainly other colors but i’m really digging the orange-blue and red-blue combos.

and speaking of gucci, with their jewel-toned collections…you can bet they have some amazing looks:

gorgeous right?

so what colors look good together to achieve this look?  look to the color wheel and at the concepts of complementary, analogous, and triadic colors.

and why write a long post on what that means when there are tons of articles already out there and when i can post these great videos from wendy’s lookbook (she’s so cute)?

i wish i had the confidence to pull this off

i’m so in love with these outfits from the gucci fall 2011 runway collection!

but alas, i am no model…

not that i can even afford it, but why isn’t ready-to-wear ever as breath-taking as runway?!

and all those darn celebrities flaunting it in front of me!

the man repeller tells me i can…

…but i just don’t have confidence to strut around in something so revealing.  i still want though.

i want to shop

i’ve been wanting to buy some wide leg trousers for so long now.  why is it so hard for me to find the perfect thing?  with the 70’s in style, i would think it’d be relatively easy for me to find a good pair.

this is my first time playing with the shopstyle look.  it’s not exactly the perfect outfit i have in mind for my wide leg trousers (whenever i get them), but pretty close.

i’ve never understood why it didn’t list every piece…but in case anyone’s wondering: tom ford sunglasses, j. crew cuff, alexander mcqueen knuckle duster, and mcq wide leg pants.
