keeping up with my valentine’s tradition, here are some new valentines from repeat valentine illustrator ben kling. his previous collection was dictators and it looks like he removed the be mein/hitler one, too controversial? these ones should be more pc, it looks like they’re notable luminaries from academia.

ben kling, valentine, darwin

ben kling, valentine, socrates

ben kling, valentine, benjamin franklin

ben kling, valentine, nietzsche

parallel universes

prada is such a fun brand.  they’ve teamed up with illustrator vahram muratyan, famous for his blog-turned-book paris vs. new york (which has been on my wish list i might add), to promote their spring/summer 2012 collection in something called “parallel universes”.

parallel universes is a virtual road paved with prada 2012 spring/summer men’s and women’s accessories, which highlights through rapid and intuitive movements two parallel universes that meet under the auspices of prada style.

for the campaign, a microsite was launched yesterday and prada’s really trying to improve its digital presence (the site’s mobile-optimized).  muratyan’s illustrations are animated as gif’s and juxtaposed with photos of the actual products each image features.

visit the microsite.  this one’s my favorite:

happy valentine’s, y’all! it’s already been over a year since i started the blog?  wow.  last year i blogged about barbara pala’s valentine illustrations; in keeping with that spirit, here are some funny and terrible valentines from ben kling.

sketchtravel  is a unique international charity art project.  this red sketchbook was passed from one artist’s hand to another like an olympic torch in an artistic relay through 12 countries over 4 and half years.

well, i certainly can’t afford to bid on the original sketchbook (but i wish i could!).  thankfully they’re publishing it for some regular folks like me…too bad it’s only on amazon france.

ETA: well, the auction ended at $96,200!  gyea, too rich for my blood.  owls productions is making a documentary about the project; the site www.sketchtravel.tv already has some videos of the contributing artists.

’nuff said

although what she had to say about them was kinda interesting too.

fuzzy potter!!

boyfriend just sent me this site for the fuzzy potter gifs but OH MY GOSH SO CUTE!  i love cute things, i love fat things, i love rodents…AUGH SO CUTE!

this is totally me

so fat and so squishy!

i’m not really a cat person but i love this fat cat!  now i realize it’s an illustration but it’s based off their real pet…although i’m sure i like the illustrated one more.
